Scam Alert: Mauritius Packages

Published Date: 25 May 2017

World Leisure Holidays would like to caution travellers against being scammed by rogue, independent travel agents who are selling fake holidays, specifically to Mauritius.

Currently, we are investigating the source of the scams, which promotes seven-night, all-inclusive packages valid until 17 December 2017 for La Pirogue Resort & Spa and Shangri-La’s Le Touessrok Resort & Spa. The ludicrous, low cost of less than R10,000 supposedly includes flights, taxes, transfers and accommodation.

As the exclusive distributors of these properties, World Leisure Holidays can confirm that there is no such promotion.

We’ve shared some pointers to help you determine whether or not you’re being scammed:

  • Where you can, check that you are dealing with a reputable accredited travel agent or supplier registered with ASATA – Association of Travel Agents. Visit www.asata.co.za
  • Do not pay deposits for holidays into a personal bank account. A reputable travel agent will have a business bank account.
  • Be sure to check terms and conditions on any invoice that you receive for compliance or accountability.
